There are a few things making me smile today. First off is my outfit; I feel like I am dressed like a tree. Not that I’m wearing a costume but I’m wearing brown pants and a green shirt (brown pants = tree trunk, green shirt = leaves). Does anyone else do this? Compare or make associations between their outfits and things? I also have a Neapolitan ice cream outfit – brown pants, pink top, white sweater – and a s’mores outfit – tan pants, white top, dark brown sweater. It might be weird, but never fails to make me smile when I pick out one of these outfits.

Second: I saw on MSN this morning that for the first time in the Motor Trend Car of the Year award’s history, all the judges voted unanimously for this year’s car. Now normally that’s not something that would even cross my radar as noteworthy EXCEPT this year, the car they picked was….wait for it…an electric car!!! Woo hoo! They chose the Tesla Model S 5-door electric sedan. You can read more about it here.

Next up (and this probably should have technically been first) I woke up to a great song this morning. I love how that changes the day – when the alarm goes off and the song that’s playing is upbeat and happy without being annoying. Makes all the difference.

Fourth: I caught sight of my lovely hallway decorations today as I was walking by and it was nice to take a moment and enjoy them. I didn’t mention it here when I finally added some decorations to my little upstairs landing area BUT it was an awesome day when that happened. Ever since the space was created (before I added the dormer to my house it was just a weird short not-even-a-hallway space) I have wanted to get one of those big vase type things and put decorative sticks in it. About a month/month and a half ago I finally made it happen! It’s little touches like this that make my house start to actually feel like a home, and I smile whenever I take a moment to enjoy them. (PS – for some reason the hallway looks really pink in this picture, but it’s not; it’s actually just white primer because I still need to paint it….and put up trim…I’ll get there.)

Last, but certainly not least, is Jello. I LOVE Jello – yes, that may be weird, but I do. I made some lime Jello last night and when I got home from work today, while I was cooking dinner, I dug in. I meant to add some canned crushed pineapple to it (you can’t use fresh or it won’t set), but I got lazy last night and decided to bag the idea. Nonetheless, it tasted so yummy. And yes – I did eat it right out of the container (no sink = using as few dishes as possible), and yes, I did divide it into 4 quadrants so I didn’t eat more than one “serving”. It was a great kick off to my homework marathon evening.
