MOML – What I’m listening to these days

It’s pretty normal for me to have an eclectic playlist, but I feel like the one I’ve been listening to lately has some interesting components to it. For the most part, it’s relatively mellow music. The majority of this playlist is the whole album from Of Monsters and Men – it’s really great music to listen to at work because it’s upbeat enough to keep me energized and moving along, but mellow enough that I feel calm. On either side of that album I have a really weird smattering of other songs:

I love A Thousand Years by Christina Perri – it’s from the Twilight soundtrack but when I first heard it a year ago I thought it was from Hunger Games…I was wrong. Either way, love the song.

Next up is It’s Time by the Imagine Dragons. First off – love their name! Secondly, it’s just a really great song. Does anyone else try to clap along? (On Top of the World is also a REALLY great song.)

Then comes the first weird addition – We Are Love by Il Volo – I think it’s actually an Italian group. I don’t know how it wound up on here (I probably thought it was a different song), but it kind of makes me happy whenever I hear it, and the Italian component makes me feel worldly :).

The next few songs are some country songs I’m loving at the moment. I love the sound and lyrics for all of these songs. They just feel like cozy great songs. And yes – I do rock out (aka sing like I’m a rock star) in my car when these songs play.

Ho Hey is the next song. I don’t even know where I first heard this song, but I love the lyrics, especially the chorus when it says “I belong with you, you belong with me, you’re my sweetheart”. It’s just so cute! And the lyrics that say “Took a bus to Chinatown, I’ve been standing on Canal” makes me think of my sister, so that always makes me smile. :-D

Then I have some Top 40s songs – I love the sound of the Bruno Mars song; the lyrics for P!nk’s song Try are really great and I think it’s a great message; Feel Again by OneRepublic is another mellow song but it’s encouraging at the same time and I like the “oooo oooooo” parts; I Cry by Flo Rida – there’s just something addicting about this song; and last but not least is Home by Phillip Phillips (I really want to know if that’s his real name) but the song just sounds like a road trip out in the country or something – I love it.

Interject the whole Of Monsters and Men soundtrack and then it moves to Shakira and Hold Us Together by Matt Mahar which is just a really good song (and I also love singing this one).  And then another Shakira song (this one is actually in Spanish and I think a little bit of some African language) but I LOVE it. I try to sing along, but I think I just make up fake words. Again I feel worldly when I listen to it, and it really inspires me for some reason – keeps me wanting to accomplish my goals (and maybe learn another language, you know, in my free time ;) ).

The Made for Each Other song is actually from the PlaySkool  commercials but I really liked it!

The Ke$ha and Enrique Inglesis have really good energy and always make me want to dance – so I usually skip these if I have my headphones on at work because it’s hard to sit still while listening to them.

And to round out the playlist is Little Talks by Of Monsters and Men. I think this is the song they’ve actually released and you can hear it on the radio. I don’t know why it’s separate from the other ones, but oh well.

So that’s my totally random playlist these days! I tried to link up to some websites where you can hear some of these songs if you’re not familiar with them. What are you guys listening to? I love finding new songs/artists that I like.

  1. Hi, I think your website may be having browser compatibility issues.
Whenever I take a look at your blog in Safari,
it looks fine however, if opening in I.E.
, it has some overlapping issues. I merely wanted to give you a quick heads up!
    Apart from that, great website!
